Question 3
To gain feedback from our products I decided to film a group of people who fit our demographic group, some of which are media students and some are not. The idea of this was to let them have a discussion together as a group of people and to talk about the aspects of our product which they liked and did not liked and also what they thought we could improve.
With our rough cut trailer we got feedback which was helpful when i came to creating our final one as we then knew what needed to be changed. Some comments they said were positive and by them saying this we knew these were parts we should keep and follow through with our final cut. Some of the improvements they suggested were things such as titles, music and voice overs which were all things we intended on adding. They commented on how they saw a huge improvement from our first rough cut compared to the second. By asking people around the age of our target audience it has helped our understanding of what they want to see and what they expect from the trailer. We took action of these improvements and corrected any mistakes they pointed out. As they came under our demographic it was important to take on board their feedback as they knew better than anyone what they expect from our soap.
When we showed a different group of people our final cut we received a different reaction and got a lot more positive comments. This helped gain confidence in our product as we knew that if people from our demographic group enjoyed it then we had achieved what we set out for. They commented on how they liked the characters we created and the choice of setting for the trailer which left the soap open to interpretation before it has even began. They felt they understood it a lot more compared to the rough cuts which meant we had done a good job in taking on board our improvements and made the correct changes in order to improve our trailer. They felt the correct amount of information and titles were given and that this time the music was appropriate to the kind of soap that it is.
